Just a couple of questions hopefully someone in the know can answer for me.

1) when tiling floor and walls do the wall tiles sit on the floor tiles or vice versa.
2) do you Silicon where the tiles meet or just grout
3)Are all internal corners siliconed
thanks in advance

Hi Cartersmiff....

Most people will do things differently. But for me, this is what I would do:

1.

err, I dont know what happened there - but anyway....

1. Floor tiles go against wall tiles - as you should try and aim to do your walls first.

2. I would grout, but if the area is going to be exposed to a lot of water, then maybe a very thin bead of Silicon wouldn't hurt. Particularly if the floor tiles are lay on a wooden or flexible surface.

3. Again, grout will normally do, but if in a very wet or flexible area, then Silicon wouldn't hurt.

In wet area's, consider 'tanking' too.

Actually, neither, I would tile the walls first to keep the floor clean, but the edges of both don't sit on either. You leave a small gap (I think 3mm unless it's a huge job) on both the walls and floors in all corners and then you are meant to Silicon them, as it's an expansion gap. On most jobs to be fair though I grouted them myself as the grout I used was slightly flexible anyway and could take some movement.

Silicon really, to tile to reg's.

Still.... yes, meant to be, although I grouted most.

i agree dan ,do your walls first so the wall grout doesnt end up all over the floor!

I do the walls leaving the bottom tile out where the batton is. I then do the floor, finally I place in the bottom wall cuts. I like to Silicon the wall/floor joint.

i think everybody is different, but im a Silicon man myself, i normally Silicon every internal corner as you can get a nice even finish, which is not always that easy to get with grouting. Same goes for where the wall tiles meet the floor. Just gives it a neater finish IMO

got to agree with Fred. Wall tiles first so as not mess the floor tiles leaving bottom row out until the floor tiles are down. Grout the walls before the floor to avoid getting wall grout in grouted floor joints . Sealant.... I Silicon to all edges
