floor tiles - my first attempt

Hi all,

tomorrow I'll start tiling my concrete floor. It is level (more less) so hopefully all will be ok. I plan to use mapei primer first and that wickes adhesive to floor tiles.
Tiles are quite big squares and i intend to make a diamond pattern.

Any advice for a tiling noob like me? Whats the best technique? I plan to put adhesive onto floor and place a tile with a twisting motion. And will try to keep it horizontal by placing a spirit level onto every tile. How long do you think i need to leave it to dry? I mean not stand on the tiles?

Cheers

Depends on what adhesive you are going to be using as to how long it will take to set, also room temp.

would of given the wickes adhesive a wide birth for starters mate but try it

Mark out the centre of the room and spit into 4 boxes then tile each one

10mm floor trowel

As for putting a spirit level over each tile don't really think u need to do that but try it and see how u feel

All the best

Thanks, thats what I planned to do (them 4 boxes, read about it in my DIY book 🙂. It is not going to be easy cose I'll start in the bathroom than little corridor and the kitchen is last. So I'll have to find a cente in the kitchen and work my way back to the bathroom (all on the same floor, next to each other).
But i succesfully managed that on the walls in the bathroom so I hope I'll be fine (I wanted to end up symetrically around the window in the bathroom but was starting on the opposite wall).
