I intend tiling our bathroom floor. This is T&G boards with currently a 6mm ply covering for the existing floor covering. What thickness ply do I need to lay to get the right results.

i would say at least a 9mm coard mate of exterior grade, put the rough side face up and then lay using a flexi addy and grout

depends on floor spring it could even be a 15mm board

6mm is certainley too thin, minimum recommended would be 12mm to 15mm for most general uses unless this causes a height problem. If the floorboards are in good nick and securely fixed then you could tile directly on to them after cleaning, priming and using a product like Topps Tiles' Fastflex system. Not cheap but a very good product IMHO.
