Floor Tiling

Why don't you get a bigger tray to fit the gap?

other than that, if you are going to make the build up part of the shower. You could use some 50mm pcs or Marmox board. This would be tilted back towards the tray.

if it's got one end open there will be more then a few splashes on the floor, it will defo need tanking too but the tanking should have gone up the walls as plan tec tiling has already said.

If you install that shower base you are asking for trouble. The wall have already been tiled so you need to break out the bottom row of tiles. Then install shower base tight to the plasterboard. Get a Mapei shower tanking kit which includes primer, waterproof tape and membrane. At least you will have some protection from water ingress if the Silicon seal fails. Then install bottom row of tiles and get a shower enclosure fitted.
It's a bit too late for a wet room floor due to the walls being tiled first.

The shower tray was installed tight to the plasterboard before tiling. Its really just the end that I need to seal. Is there a way to deal with the end to ensure it is waterproofed so that I could leave the end open? I just hate shower enclosures!

Sorry, I can see from the photo that the shower base has been fitted properly, my mistake. I can see what you're trying to do but you have the wrong kind of tray. What you need is a shower tray former such as the Marmox or Impey. These trays have a built-in fall and are tiled over with an envelope cut. You will not get a watertight seal with this tray so I would recommend a shower screen or change the tray.
