I had mine come to the job today and cut out all the waste and vent. This is what we found: :yikes:

My customers now think I am a genius for talking them into spending the extra dough on this.

Good work Rob, that would have turned into a nasty situation sooner rather than later.
Was it all caused by the hole in the pipe work?

Hi Dave, the hole that you was above the sink and was only a dry vent. Part of the vent up through the roof was cast iron and it was what we call "punky"...it had been dropped probably before it was installed and the inside of the cast iron was cracked inside and had a dull sound when tapped.

The rest of that mess you see was just 70 + years worth of filth. Yuck! :yikes:

regularly..and heavily by the looks of it:lol:

That was all 2" pipe, draining the sink and tub. No poo down those pipes unless something slipped out in the bath.
