Here's a brochure about the Transit Connect as it is going to be sold here in the US. I was wrong above when I said it would have a 2.4 L motor...it's going to be a 2.0 L. (I was thinking of the 2.4L that's in one of my trucks, which is a Ford Ranger pickup).

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the info. What motor do you have? They say that the only one that will be available here is a small gas four banger...I think ~2.4 liter. I'm wondering how that does moving the vehicle and its payload? Also, the vans will only be available with automatics.

Yea 2L engine, diesel of course. Had 2 options, 90psi or 120psi, and after reading some figures I went with the 90psi version as it gives much better fuel efficiency. Fully loaded it still goes really well. Doesnt ever feel like its struggling, although you can feel the weight. The size inside (on the LWB version) is actually suprisingly big. My van is as high if not higher than a VW transporter, almost as long, and with a little less room in the back. For a small van, thats really good.

Also I got the thing ply lined, but most importantly I got a metal mesh bulkhead installed. This has a swinging door built in, and with the passenger "fold flat" seat, folded flat, the bulkhead can swing round, and lock into the back of the seat giving you loads more room. Can fit standard plasterboard sheets, or so Ive been told, not actually tried it.

Anything else you want to ask, feel free :)

I have read a lot about this van that Ford has been manufacturing and selling in Europe for decades. Does anyone on this forum have one, and if so, do you like it? I might trade in one of my three company vehicles for this next year when they come on the market here in the US:

Ford Transit Connect - Commercial Truck | Ford Vehicles

My old man has one.

Do you know, when the first MK1 was out, it was not only one of the quickest vans around, as it WAS the quickest, but it was one of the quickest road-vehicles around too! It was used in more than 90% of the UK's robberies that used a vehicle in them - as it was quicker than what the police used at the time.

Excellent vans; you can always guarantee Ford will flood the market with them, so you'll always find you'd loose on buying one knew quite quickly, so buy nearly new (Sometimes still in warranty) and you'll score. They'll always be cheap to insure, as they'll always be cheap to repair easy to find parts for, they'll always be reliable, they'll never be anything special or different, but you can guarantee you'll see a dozen on a 5 minute journay to work in about the rush-hour.

I'd just never buy a brand new one. A sprinter is the investment for brand brand new I think if you're looking for a common useable investment (or loss protection purchase rather, you'll never INVEST in a van exactly).

Sorry for the late reply. lol I've read page 1 of 4, and I bet it's off-topic on the replies this will be near to now.
