When doing bathrooms you don't have the luxury of waiting 4 weeks for a 2mm skim to go off, I leave it as long as I can though and certainly until it's all light grey.

Sometimes after removing tiles from plasterboard there are areas that need a quick skim, alot of the 70's estates here have those prefabricated walls with egg box type material in 2 inch cavity.

theres so many factors to take into account. what i will say is, plaster will take longer to dry at this time of the year especially on new builds or extentions so make sure it has no dark coloured damp patches and above all, make sure the plaster will hold the weight of tile you have picked!! 4 weeks is the b/s guideline but other factors do come into the equation so if in doubt, stick to the rules and when you have more experience of substrates, you can judge things more expansively.
