Gap behind top row of shower tiles

hi there,

I had a job done recently in a bathroom. The wall was not reboarded flat before tiles were applied and was quite uneven. As a result, I have a gap ranging from 5mm to 20mm across the top. Is there a recommended fix for this that anyone can share? Should it be grout / caulk? I tried to get a trim in but the adhesive is set rock solid and at some points stops the trim sliding in behind the tiles. Obviously removing the top row of tiles and redoing would be an option but if there is anything that requires less work, would love to hear. Bit naughty leaving it like that.. Is that a dado rail? Couldn't that be removed and replaced with either a wider rail or packed out to cover the gap and painted?

Pop down to Homebase. They have loads of different wood trims of different sizes, depths, contours etc.

Agree with AT/Tiling.

I’d whip the dado off and get some planed timber behind. Scribed In if necessary and usually on Dados I tend to get a piece of bullnose moulding and tack it on the top to hide the joint between dado and timber.

As above, cut the dado in the middle at a 45 degree, this will give you a good surface to glue together again, and remove dado from wall, get a length of 20mm x 44mm planed timber, will cost about £5 for 3m and fix in place of removed dado and then re fix dado. Decorate to match.
Job done.
