Hi everyone.

Just wanted to say hello.

I am presently living in Perth, Australia (4years), after living in Auckland, NZ for 8 years before that. I am originally from Manchester, UK.

I am a plumber by trade, but have been tiling since the mid 1980's. I am involved in the renovation business here in OZ. Mainly bathrooms and laundries, but me and my mate also do kitchens.

I was surfing the internet to try to find out how to correctly apply Silicon:mad2: . It's something that has always been beyond me, and here in OZ, I have tended to use a water based caulking compound for sealing around vanities/baths etc.

I found some excellent tips on here (thank you for sharing), so I am raring to go tomorrow. I need to seal around 8 baths in a hotel in Perth. They are in a shower over bath situation, so caulking would be no good in this situation.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow........watch this space.:yes:

Yes Dan, we do prefer Oz to NZ. The weather is much more pleasant, and just the general feel of the place seems more "normal" to us. It's a great place to live, and you're correct Turkish, we are indeed very lucky to be living in such a great place.

I haven't sealed the baths yet. It's first job tomorrow morning, so I will let you all know how it goes.

Hello again everyone.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.

The sealing operation was a great success. It's the neatest Silicon I have ever applied. I used to clean up Silicon with Meths or turps, but the soapy water is excellent innit??

I've been in the trade for nearly 30 years (plumber) and I cannot belive that I didn't know about this???????
