Hi ,
Been asked to lay a Geo' floor in Jan , I havent got a prob with mosaic as I've done plenty over the years ( 20 ) . Been doing a bit of research and looking at pics etc and the only thing really bothering me is the border.
My instinct tells me to lay border first to enable the border to run through to its natural finish before turning , then centre out the main pattern and infill etc. I appreciate there will be turns ( corners ) where this of course wont happen , but on looking at a lot of pics there seems to be a lot of duff meetings at corners where I would expect to see a natural flow around it ( ignoring of course when say 2 diagonal insets meet side by side , I'm talking about naff 3/4 cut diamonds ).
However all the info I've read so far seems to suggest laying the infill ( main floor ) first , then wrapping the border around.
Now I'm pretty hot on getting my work pretty near on the money as regards parralel and square but the info I've read begs a couple of questions( finally , soz ).
1. Are there various points in the infill at which there is a natural point to stop and wrap the border and are these pointed out? ( I understand about different shaped rooms upsetting this.)
2. What happens if borders and infills are mixed and matched?
3. Is it just the case that some borders just won't work out?
Thanks
