Hello Experts. I am hoping you can help me to determine the best adhesive and grout for an upcoming job. I am having a new extenstion built with a weyroc 1st floor (thickness to be confirmed). I have search many a forum and think it best the cover the weyroc floor firstly with ply (again thickness yet to be confirmed) before tiling. I have tres expensive 60 x 40 x 1.2 travertine tiles for walls and floor. My overall worry is that there may be movement in the floor causing some cracking in the tiles. Can you give me some advice on the best adhesive and grout to use?

I know I need a very flexible product and have seen that BAL products seem to be the professional favourite but there seems to be a lot to choose from. Which product is best to reduce the chances of cracking, etc? I want to use the same product on walls and floor and also will need to use it in a walk in shower (with shower tray so not proper wetroom, which is going to be tanked with BAL's tanking kit). I hope this is enough information. Any advice is greatly recieved.

Why don't you use something else instead of weyroc for the floor as it is not already down. This will eliminate the extra height that overboarding would produce. There must be alternatives to weyroc, even if you go straight to 25mm ply it would be better than overboarding.

If you have to tile onto a timber surface you will need something like Ardexflex 7001 and ardexflex grout, or from BAL Fastflex and Suplex wide joint grout as a starting point.

Hmmmm. I never thought of laying ply straight off the bat. I will speak to the builder to see if he could use the Weyroc for the bedroom side of the extension and 25mm ply for the bathroom.
With the BAL Fastflex what is the average coverage for the 7.5Kg Power and 5kq liquid? The total floor area I have is about 4.5m2 excluding the raised walk in shower (1400x900) and the bath. Would you recommend using the same Fastflex and Suplex on the walls also. Thanks for the swift replies by the way.

Could i sugggest that "You" lay the 25mm ply yourself, after all if you are going to tile it yourself the ply work would be no problem to you and you will know that its done correct. I tend to find that if i do things like that i would over do the screws and generally take more care because i know i am fixing to it at a later stage.
Whe i walk into a place that has a new timber floor i always wonder what precautions they took when laying it and i always check how many screws have been used....usually not enough.
