Glass Mosaic Tiles

Hi everyone
I purchased some glass mosain tiles on matting to use as a boarder to existing tiles. However having received them the edges have overspray of the backing colour. I did not want to use a tile edging but how can i clean the edges up? I have tried scraping with a stanly blade, whitesprit but cant remove the paint. Is it some kind of resin?

Hi Mark and welcome..

It most likely be as you say and the colour bonding used to give the glass colour that shows face side.

It is unusual to see this.. are the edges that are within the sheets the same as you can cut the mosaics to size(strips) and use the good edges upwards that can be seen.

The strips are only 2 tiles high, so can not do that. I'm a bit hacked off to be honest lol. Any more options

It is only the dark grey tiles causing the problem the light ones are fine?

That is glue from the netting.... use a small amount of glue residue remover and a blade..

Any chance of returning tiles as i think they will still show marks when grouted in the field .That's a lot of over glue

tough glue. wonder why its just on the dark tiles?

It's on all of them from i can see... if you want them then it can be done but it would be easier to just re-choose as above Jay sez.. return them.

It diffently is only on the dark tiles the light ones are fine. Its not glue as i can pull the netting back and remove the glue that holds it on.
Must be the resin or whatever it is used to colour the tiles.
reckon i will have to return them or use a edging strip.

Swapping them, great idea if you have loads of them, I had a similar problem with glass tiles on mesh, it was was semi transparent, white glue, don't think it was pva, though) and I have a bottle of nail varnish remover just for that purpose in my studio, worked very well, instantly really, so worth a try, even if it just to know for furture reference

Already raided partners nail varnish remover. No luck though

Ah, different stuff then, obviously, I have never seen grey glue like the one in your pics. Considering its colour and the colour of your tiles maybe it is leaked through glass paint after all, that would need thinners then, I reckon. Better to change them if you can, what a nuisance for you, good luck
