I am about to install glaas mosaic tiles in black on very good walls.
I recentl did the same but had a great deal of time wasted due to the mosaic tiles slipping as the backing did not hold them together (gaps).
Would it not be easier to cut hardboad to the 1 ft square size and bond them to this then put the lot on in one go.
It sounds good but does any one know a better way.
Also what would I use to stick the h/board up, possibly gripfill?.

THANKS IN ADVANCE :huh2:

Hi M8/
I know what you mean by the mosaics are slipping if you like from the backing, they can be a bit fiddly sometimes.
I would strongly advise you not to attach them to hardboard, and have another attemp at the mosaics.
BAL do a mosaic fix adhesive which is good for glass, I used it a week or two ago, held really well.
If worst comes to the worst and all of the mosaics are falling off the backing mesh, shorely for 1sq foot of tiling you could just plod along putting them up individualy. I state again though, dont put hardboard on the wall...!
Best of luck with your project...

Definately NO HARDBOARD, and definately use BAL Mosaic-fix. Brilliant stuff. Not sure why you are having trouble with the tiles coming away from the backing, what is the backing made from?

Are you applying the sheets to the wall by holding the top corner tiles to keep the sheet straight and are you using something like a grout float to pad the sheets into position?

Thanks for your replys. I think i may have confused you with the comment of slipping off the backing. i should explain that what i meant was the tiles where slipping down leaving no spaces, it took me a long time.
i will not use the boards and will try the bal mosiac adhesive.

A little tip from me mate.............use cling film to stop them slipping...idea is your frist row is set them hang from there use the cling film to stop slippage......works on large area's and in small area's use masking tape......hope this tip helps....
