Hello fiona and welcome to the forums..........On that size floor and timber with travertine, i would seriously think about an uncoupling membrane to stop any lateral stress cracks from expansion in the timber.........

I use ditra mat and it is spot on to use.......this can be bought from any CTD branch or if not available then give wetdecs a shout and he sells durabase uncoupling membrane....both will do the job and give a long last floor.......

She advised bal single part flex in white for adhesive and felx limestone grout. For the two to cover 40 square metres for both adhesive and grout including vat (I think) £421.10 that is before any discount if you have an account or trade card with us.

depends on the thickness , allthough its not very hard to cut.
tops sometimes do you a deal. but i dont find them cheap.

Update... Thanks for all your help..finally got Topps Tiles to give me a 40% discount so we went for the BAL..it is looking good only a couple metres to go ... but could do with a bit off advice what do I use to clean of the residue from the adhesive it is only a thin film where the excess has been wiped off... Can I use WEXA again? or do I need to get something else.. .. As I don't want to remove the sealant ( stain stop) we put on previous to laying..... also should I clean before grouting... or waiting til thats done before cleaning and sealing again......
