Hi mate,

Just wanted to add a comment. This may not have been the case with your granite but might be usefull info anyway, some tiles get a temporary protective layer put on them priot to being ditributed to retailers. When this is the case the tile merchant would normally inform anyone purchasing the tile and reccomend a cleaner or stripper of some sort prior to resealing.

Tile Giant have one such tile named 'Kimberley'. A porcelain tile which requires the tile to be cleaned with an intesive cleaning product, such as ltp Grimex to remove a wax layer that has been applied to the tile. After this treatment the tile is then ready to be treated with a sealer.

Never used an intensive cleaner before. How difficult is it to use ? would I be better to use HG cleaner as I used HG impregnator to seal tiles ?

Buy Aqua Mix Heavy Duty Tiler & Grout Cleaner that will get it off you can get it from Trade Tiler on here or E Bay

mmmm...Before you go near it with a remover..apply some more sealer leave for few secs and then buff it off....this might liven up the sealer residue on the surface.( don't let it dry ).

If this doesn't work then you will need to try another method, but try this first...

Was in my local tile shop today.They phoned their local HG rep who has advised me to use HG stain spot remover. Reading the instructions on the bottle, it does say that it will remove an over application of the HG impregnator. Didn't fancy using another make encase of reaction. Here's hoping !!

TFS is right saying that some granite has a seal already applied, particularly the slabs - but it is the quarry usually that puts this on and not the distributor. Personally, I think it's a bad idea as the sealer they use is often a topical sealer (sits on the surface) and looks patchy as it starts to come off. Fila is brilliant stuff - use MP90 for polished marble and granite (including kitchen worktops). The stuff that Topps sells is made by Fila but it is not the same "recipe" as you get from Fila themselves.

What colour was the label on the bottle?

I only ask because some sealers have larger molecules that won't "fit" into the small pores of polished products like Granite and Polished Porcelain. If the molecules from the sealer can't fit into the pores, they will sit on that surface and cause flaking.

I tried to search for the sealer you mentioned, but Hagesan make soooo many products and have a million different impregnators that all say they are for natural stone

Got the floor looking top dollar today the sealer came off quite easy with the spot stain remover. Customer delighted.
