I heard recently of a full time tiler who complained to the adhesive manufacturer that the adhesive was faulty and the tiles 600 x 300 porcelain tiles fell off damaging the bath. He'd used a D1. :yikes:

Another reason why licensing should be introduced in this industry, far to many cowboys in the trade, and not enough tradsmen.:mad2:
Fair comment but I'm not sure licensing is always the answer, a cowboy will always be a cowboy and you will never stop them until a complete mind shift happens at the customer stage, customers still have that stupid opinion that 3 quotes for the same job, two are all but the same and one is hundreds cheaper they go for that one without thinking why. And I feel that licensing might just mean yet another annual bill to a governing body while them horse boys don't bother paying.

the guy in question obviously has very little knowledge of tiling and prep work, greenstar £4.70 a tub , when he could get weber set plus for about £6 a bag , weber tanking kit for £48.00 , he dont cost a great deal more to do the job right , just knowledge and explaining to the customer the benefits of the of the extra cost

Saem thing happened to me years ago.... trader (older guy) comes in to TG and wipes out there entire stock of D1 with a slightly "i shoiuld be very impressed" look on his face, he then proceded to tell me what it was for (obviously i wasnt impressed enough) so he needed to reinforce his magnificance... "ye, im putting up these massive 600 x 300's and boy do they eat up the adhesive...(grin)... I asked why he didnt just use bags of cement, he laughed and said "because you need to mix that up"... there no point trying to tell someone of this guys age and obvious stupidity why he should bnot be doing this so i just laughed a bit.

Well if you going to a job that badly you may as well use one of the worst adhesives out there!
i can't believe Bal still make it.
