Grout gap

What is the best looking gap size for grouting for a 600x600 Polished porcelaine tile. It's for a kitchen floor about 25 square meters.

3mm. That is the minimum recommendation also.

The "best looking" is ½ - 1mm. Whether it's acceptable or to British Standards is another matter...

I would go with 1,5-2mm.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose 1-1.5mm would look the best but the tileris very reluctant to lay down with that gap. I think I will gor for 3mm. Thanks for the replies. Also would polished porcelaine be suitable for both kitchen and bathrooms. The tiles are the Gemini, Eagle polished porcelaine 600x600 tile.

If polished, bare in mind they will be slippery when wet, so not ideal for bathroom floors.

The Eagle porcelain are usually pretty good quality but surface preparation/flatness will be an important factor.

The minimum british standard is 3mm. Less than this can easily lead to tenting and delamination of the tiles. Why would anyone want to recomend less???

I'm just doing 66x46 porcelain, 3mm on wall and floor. Looks great, customer loves it. That's what matters

If doing 10x10s for kitchen splash then I use 1.5 joint.

I done my ex girl friends bathroom 600x300 polished porcs with a 1mm joint, looked really good, + only used half bag of adhesive for the whole room

my customer was asking if he could have 2mms on his kitchen floor but i said no ill go as low as 3mm just to cover my backside abit

same 2mm. would make sure floor is solid, lay DITRA MATT. to me smaller grout joint-the better look. but that is only my opinion

I'll be the odd one out then. I prefer 5mm. Each to there own though. Generally, I'll give the custard the option & let them pick. They ate the one that's got to live with it, not me!
