Grout or Silly-Cone in Corners...?

Hi All

Well my DIY bathroom project is coming to an end and the grouting is starting.

I am fully aware of using Silicon around the bath to tile interface but what about the corners of the room and around the door architrave, what do you guys & gals do...?

Also my grout is off white, would you stick (pardon the pun) white Silicon or try and find a coloured one to match...?

Use Mapei Silicon and Silicon all internal angles before grouting, let Silicon dry before you grout. mapei have a great colour range, sounds like Jasmine will be the colour.

Silicon all internal corners and were ever a tile meets a new surface (vanity door frame etc)

Just bear in mind when siliconing up to painted/varnished woodwork that future painting will not stick to the Silicon, use decoraters chaulk for these areas.

My plumbers van wouldn't start this morning (ignition switched jammed) so I've got the day off, well thats not scrictly true as I'm going to walk to a couple of jobs round the corner, they are easy jobs with minimal tools.

yes you must use Silicon in the corners, Jasmine Silicon sounds like what you need and also around door frame etc as Bathfix Bob says.

Would you always do it this way round Neale? I would have thought there is a higher risk of a poor bond

I always silicon after grouting too, just keep the corners and interfaces free from grout

seen some guys fill the joint with Silicon just,set then grout so it doesnt get in then Silicon seal up..not sure if this method is good or not but it seems to work for them

Are you saying that they Silicon/grout/Silicon? Interesting variation!

not for me that one Jamie, silicon doesn't adhere too well to silicon
