Grout very grainy.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on the smoothest wall grout. Tried a few, Granfix,Bal,Mapei and finding them very grainy for a 2mm joint.

Any suggestions. Bal have launched a new one at topps but it is way too expensive.

If this is what BAl have justed realeased. I was in Topps and it was a lot more expensive than Micromax. Almost double hence the starting of this thread as it is to expensive for general use.

BAL & Mapei are definitely smooth grouts. I mostly use BAL microban. Sandy grouts are for floors. Some grouts are for walls & floors. I never use these as the grout is too heavy (due to the sand). Most of it ends up on the floor (when I'm grouting a wall).

Saun Sorry put sandy but really mean grainy, especially on mosaic work.

Fine flex is for walls and floors, and I haven't used smoother.

Try b&q grout + adhesive, if you press the tile in hard enough you don't even need to grout!!!!

I use Mapei UCP for colours and BAL Microflex for white. I find both nice and smooth and both leave a good finish.

Just a quick update. Was in CTD so got some of their weber joint pro grout. I had 30 metres of metro tiles to grout and thought I would give it a go to see how smooth it was after Beanz mentioning it earlier in this thread.

When I first mixed it it seemed quite creamy in colour but it has dried back white, not as white as Bal microflex but most definately white. The texture is very smooth and have to say cleaned off far easier than Bal.

Would recommend this for anyone looking for a nice smooth grout though it does take a while to get used to if you are a Bal/Mapei user. It hold the joints well and dries quickly certainly worth trying and cheaper than BAL.

Only commenting on the tiles today [being metro] Found the Rubi groat float with the white rubber and dense foam far better than the Raimondi I normally use, just seemed to work better on these tiles.

Oh yeah, i keep forgetting it's pro grout now.. That was actually the one i meant, but didn't see it on their website lol! Glad it worked for ya Jeff
