BAL & Mapei are definitely smooth grouts. I mostly use BAL microban. Sandy grouts are for floors. Some grouts are for walls & floors. I never use these as the grout is too heavy (due to the sand). Most of it ends up on the floor (when I'm grouting a wall).
 
Dan or Bri or whoever could help could you change the title to "Grout very Grainy" as sandy is perhaps the wrong word. Many thanks

Fine flex is for walls and floors, and I haven't used smoother.
 
Try b&q grout + adhesive, if you press the tile in hard enough you don't even need to grout!!!!
 
I use Mapei UCP for colours and BAL Microflex for white. I find both nice and smooth and both leave a good finish.
