it was a small en suite with rad blasting out for 6 hrs (not my idea just the way it was.) Mapei grout looked bone dry. Was this still a no no, tiles already had a couple of coats on. Still eager to learn Dave!

I thought you meant it was raw, no previous coats of sealer......

Ultra colour plus is fully dry in 3 hrs....so as long as the tiles were not wet/damp then no issues...

Does everyone find just going over with sponges/washboy sponges enough to dress the grout line fully? On my training course I found it a little difficult to just have grout deep into the lines - leaving a nice curve on the tiles into the grout lines. Most of mine had grout nearly up to surface of the tile & I physically had to sponge in the actual grout lines.

Used my washboy for this first time yesterday & the grouting came out absolutely perfect with very little effort. Grouted (2.5 sq metres), left for a few minutes (front door wide open so dried very quickly), went over fairly gently with circular movements using the handled sponge, washing the sponge a couple of times inbetween. Left for 10 mins max & proceeded to wipe the handled sponged in straight lines across the tiles (which were diamond set) cleaning inbetween each row. Probably wiped the whole floor 3 times. Job done inside an hour. :hurray:

i thought you pulled the sponge at 45% to the tile not circular movements
If you are talking about grout application and you want the grout to be in all the cracks and crevices of the joint, then a 45° sweep won't do the job well enough. If you are talking about cleaning off the excess grout after you have got it into the joints, then a flat, straight movement is called for - or you will start ripping grout out of the joints.
