What's a good way to grout stone tiles that have a bunch of small "craters"?

I've grouted regular ceramic tile before - where you slop on the grout with a rubber float and force it into the spaces between the tiles and then later wipe/sponge it off the face of the tile. But you can't do this with these stone tiles becauise it doesn't look like I'll be able to get the grout out of the little craters and I will end up with a "freckled" look that I DON'T want.

Any ideas:huh2: Thanks!

Hi there,
you can use a slate grout bag, its like a cake decorating icing bag. Just fill it with grout and pipe into the spaces therefore not touching the face of the stone tiles.
You can buy them mail order at North East Tiling Training. Log onto [DLMURL]http://www.learntotile.co.uk[/DLMURL] or phone Tracey on 0191 4274529 and she will sort you one out.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Steve.

These stone tiles you speak of, sound like tumbled or unfilled marble. The holes in the surfaces are supposed to be grouted, it is part of the effect...after grout is cured, then give a coat of sealer to protect them. This means you must choose your grout colour to match the stone and it blends in.......Gaz

also if you dont fill these holes they will collect dust and dirt and probaly bacteria!
