Grouting

Hi everyone

I have just had some tiles laid and grouted with a limestone colour grout, looks good where the colour is how it should be but the remainder is very patchy. The tile company are saying it is because the tilers have made up the grout too wet and then finished with a very wet cloth as opposed to just damp. It looks awful! Tile company have advised using a colour restorer but not sure what to do. Have still another room to tile and do not want the same problem. Should I get someone else to finish the other room? Thanks to anyone who can advise

Hi, it could be a number of reasons from over wetting to incorrect mixing , but mostly it is polymer residue in the joints from over wetting whilst washing off.

This can be removed.. what brand of grout is it and what tile type is it.?

Grout used was BAL superflex limestone w/joint. Thank you, Kate

Porcelain. As I still have a further floor to do I really do not know what to do. Get someone else if the problem has been the mix, use the same product and risk the same thing happening again. Surely a company like BAL must be supplying a suitable grout. Kate

It was a few yrs since i last used it , so is probs sorted by now..

Try cleaning the grout before using a re-colour IMHO.. it will most likely just be polymer residue..

Pop into a Topps tiles store and buy some of this >> Floor Cleaner | Stain Remover | Wax Stripper | Fila PS/87 this will remove polymer residue and if after that the grout is still patchy, then you have the option to re-colour..

Hi, was recommended a product called HG product 12, sounds similar to what you are suggesting. Have just spent the last few hours doing this with my husband so we shall see what results we get once dry. Really don't feel that comfortable getting the same guys to do the other large area I still need tiled. Hard to know if it was their fault or the grout. Thanks for your help. Kate
