Well after 4 years of trying to make it work i feel the time has now come for me to pack the trade in. Had some great times but the work in my area is just not there at the moment. Love the job but with bills and a mortgage to pay it seems there is no option. Time for me to start getting my arse in the job center

Your not alone... There are a lot of good guys with very little work on at the moment and struggling to make ends meet. At least if you get a job doing something else, then you can do the tiling on the side. Good luck with whatever you find yourself doing.

heres my 3 phone calls this week lol.....

1. how much would you charge to tile a 1.5 sq metre bathroom floor onto flat concrete materials supplied and tiles supplied...will it just take an hour?how much do you charge an hour

2.hi id like my bathroom tiled can you give me a price...certainly can i take you rname and address please....sure blah blah blah oh i said i quoted this twice for you last year.....oh she said were you the guy that came at xmas time...no missus im the one who came in july and september goodbye

3.hi how much for 140 tiles to be laid.......well can you tell mer what kind of tiles they are please and also size also what are they going onto is it a bathroom etc can i come look at the job

nonono they are just tiles what does it matter i just want a price stop wasting my time young man

all the best mate, my work has slowed down the past year its getting really worrying. ive thought about packing it in too and may only be a matter of time.
a few years back i would say i would normally get 80% of the jobs i quoted on, now i'm lucky to get 40%. i think that theres alot of 'tilers' out there pricing very cheaply and you know what happens then, the customers go with the cheapest quote
