Great thread to read for any one struggling in the current climate. My plumber tells the same story - weeks with little or no new jobs, then booked solid for months ahead. I think any tiler feeling the pinch will take a long hard look at their trade vs their home and family.
It does not please me to read of everyone elses struggles with quoting in this market - but I am pleased to hear that I am not alone in trying to match quotes too low to cover the cost of diesel to drive to. I remember well the recession of the late 70's to early 80's - things will pick up eventually, but many trades will go bust in the meantime, and many workers will be laid off. I hope I survive.
And politics..... Labour, Tory, or Lib Dem or whatever - power corrupts. Labour oversaw the biggest fraud in history - and that was just their MP's defrauding the taxes for their swimming pools - never mind allowing the bankers to rob us of our life savings.
Me? I'm gonna vote SNP next time but only if they promise to support the Independence of Wessex from the corrupt Londoner's......:gunsmilie::gun_bandana:
