Hardibacker Board & Homelux

I am just about to install Hardibacker board to the stud partition walls that will be my shower cubicle. My plan was going to be to then put up Homelux matting before tiling over with travertine.

After reading all the literature on Hardiebacker boards I am now wondering whether the matting over the top is overkill. They suggest the use of a PE sheet underneath the backer board. Has anybody used this method? And where is the best place to buy this sheeting if it is the best method?

Why bother with the expense of cement board why not just plaster board and use the Dura-wp tanking kit .........jobs a good un

I would use hardi and then just use a tanking kit to tape and paint over joints.

I would use marmox then tank, it's light in weight,can take heavy tiles, gives insulation to the walls (very important ) is waterproof you just need to take care of the joints ,I'm a big fan of cement tile board

I have already bought some Hardi Backer boards so I will be using those.

Has anyone used them in the way their literature suggests with a PE membrane before the board fitment?

There is absolutely no advantage to using a cement coared or coated board in this situation.

You guys may like them but the expense, messing around, addition of fittings, fixings, tapes etc compared to a £7.50 sheet of plaster board makes them non starters imo. These boards are made out to be a must have item that cost the earth yet the main benefit over plaster board is they can be used if working with exceessive kg/m2..............:banghead::banghead:
