Has anyone just screw fixed the 6mm board rather than bedding in adhesive and screwing??

I've got a couple of bathroom floors to do in a brand new build house and the base is brand new, flat as a pancake wayrock with piped UFH underneath - do you think the adhesive is totally necessary?

Hi Merle,

I have a friend in the tile trade who does a lot of inspections for tile failures. He told me once that much of the time where there is a failure with cement backer board, he finds that no thinset was installed under the board. His opinion is that it is worth the time to put the mortar under the board as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Its a small cost to use adhesive too.

Adhesive it is then - thing is I was a through and through WBP ply man for 20 odd years until about 5 weeks ago, so am still getting to know this Hardie stuff, but am a stalwart for doing things right, much to the annoyance of my co-workers at times:lol::lol:

Time moves on and we should start pushing these products more as they are much better IMO.
