Im not having a pop here at you PR, but Like i put in that thread about that jerk, never in my life have i heard so much bull poo , utter nuts.
EVERY house ,office block and factory ive worked on , with architects and building inspectors walking around while we dryline, with dabs spread like always has anyone mentioned this.infact we have just done 2 massive, thousands of m2 of boarding/drylining skimming of offices, gyms and kitchens in BIG brand new wearhouses, over ten million pounds worth of building , not one mention of it, surely if it was such a massive problem they would of pulled us on it ? Told me im doing it wrong , not BS or what ever ? :)

Thanks for all the info on this lads.... Big help

Fortunately although quiet accidentally i have always framed my boards anyway (mark on the wall where my board outline will be then dab a continuous bead of drywall all around it) TBH though i only done this cos i just thought i should and not because of any regs. Think I will carry on doing this but will now use a lot less throughout the rest of the board.

Gotta say though some of these regs are ridiculous, i mean if a house is burning that much i can't see what difference it makes if you have a bit of dry wall adhesive round the edge of your plasterboard lol..... I get the air thing and sound thing but the fire thing just seems so over the top.

Ok so i may have to have a change of plan on the job i'm on at the mo....... To much to explain all but basically i wanted to dab out my shower area with 12.5 m PB but this is going to pull me out to far for other areas i have to consider (9.5 m is also just a tad too thick) im trying to avoid taking a layer off the wall as it will take hours so i have another question.

6mm insulation board, can i dot and dab this? if so would RSF be best for this? the substrate is block, reasonably flat so would not exceed the bed depth limitation. The tiles are 600x300 porcs.

Ta lads

6mm would need to have a solid bed, if your dot and dabbing with adhesive 12.5mm would required...

Thanks again mate, that's that opptioon out the window too.

Got any other ideas how i can bring this shower area out by roughly 6-10m that would be quick drying and then able to tank afterwards, bonding and skim is out cos of drying! Hardwall is out! D&D plasterboard is out! Can't stud it out either and really want to avoid taking ten mm out the wall with my sds to then be able to D&D. Did think sand and cement render but not sure if it would dry in time.

Ahh just thought... Bal do a quickset render, sure Pentagons do it but not sure if it's suitable to tank. I'll call Bal tecy

Ahhh that's a good idea mate, i was thinking more using the quickset render to bring the wall out to where i need it but yeah i could just flatten it out with the quickset then use the insulation board. So just to be sure and for future jobs as long as 6mm boards have a solid bed they are ok for walls and will take the weight of (in this case) 600 nx 300 porcs? May also save more time doing it your way cos i wouldn't need to tank them either.

Mate that's a great idea, my problem is solved. Thanks very much your a diamond :8:
