Hello all,I have two 30m2 floors to tile using ditra. One is timber effect tiles onto normal sand and cement screed with no UFH( no probs there). The other is trav onto sand and cement too but it has wet UFH, hairline cracks in screed too.My second customer is wondering will there be any heat loss at all with the ditra??

Mapei eporit, that's the glue I have to get into the cracks. She is adamant this is what she wants and will save her over five hundred quid too.I'v told her that it's her problem if the cracks come through as I don't believe this glue can hold a screed section together if it decided to move.I have expansion joints going in and even soft joints only around perimeter.I'll see the cracks in the morning and go from there.I have the two part glue in the van.

If you use it, any chance of a few pics and a little review?I would be interested to see what its like to work with and how it holds up.

I've been asked before by customers wether ditra will cause heat loss and i've never noticed at all.
If anything with the way it's designed with the air channels for even heat distribution the floor probably heats up quicker as you have initialy an equally over all heated floor rather than areas warmer nearer to the pipes and cooler between.
If you look at the Schluter Bekotec Therm wet ufh system it's a well researched and exspensive system where Ditra is reccommeded so if any issues with heat loss i'm sure they would have re designed to solve any problems

I arrived at this job this morning, the cracks were small but enough of them to worry me.I discussed the ditra again with the customer, she put me onto the UFH company who had never even heard of ditra !!! Or a decoupler! No help there but I educated him rightly. My customer contacted schluter who said ditra had a U value of 7.So this concerned her, I contacted my supplier who logged my concerns if this did go belly up.I left the customer with the options - ditra and no cracks, guaranteed. No ditra and very possible cracks which I take no responsibility for !So..... Ditra I got, 35m2 and stuck it down.Happy ending for me.The conservatory has glass roof and windows.
