hello im new to tiling

hi i am on a course for maintenance ops. I have just finished the Tiling part of the course and i am wanting to start tiling as a career has anyone got any tips for me please

lol andy the tiling course was for 6 weeks just on a friday. i have learnt how to set out using the 3 4 5 methed and to set datems. I have tiled a wall and also done a circle shape in tiles i have been tought on the drying times for newly layed floors so that they can be tiled. I have replaced broken tiles for new ones and what thickness the ply should be for downstairs and upstairs for floor tiling. how much adhesive coverage of should be on a floor and wall tile . i have also learnt how to spot lips in the tiling and to rectify them.

how about trying to find out if any tilers in your local area need a hand, and you can learn off them, but be warned, these are trying times were in at the momment, some tilers are just about finding enough work for themselfs..

hi mart ,havnt long started out myself ,best advice i can give is to get talking to as many peeps as possible about your new career you are embarking on.Get down the tiling shops ,builders merchants,decorating shopsand get in touch with all local tilers (Its good to talk) I done a course then went for the plunge on my own and for a while done a bit of anything (painting ,wallpaper hanging ,hacking plaster off walls,helping builder out etc)All ive done for 5 months now is tiling !!

thank you judge for your advice i have talked to someone i know that is a tiler but at the moment he is realy quite he has said he will have a word with some people he knows and i will do as you adviced and ask at local builders merchants. thank you
