Hello. I wish to tile the walls and floor in my bathroom. i am looking to use mapei super flexible adhesive, mapei flexible grout and mapei plaster primer on the walls. The walls were back to brick, plastered with browning and skimmed with multifinish. One wall is plasterboarded. The floorboards are 13 or 15mm thick fixed firmly and i am going to use WBP 12mm plywood on top. From what i have read on here 12mm ply is no good but im going to use it anyway. i am possibly going to use 18 x 18 tiles, but have not decided yet.
Now my questions start!
since the floorboards are fixed firmly i am going to screw the ply down at 150mm apart. but before this the plywood needs to be primed. i have some cementone sbr, is this stuff ok to prime the back and sides of the plywood with? And if i need to, will it be ok to prime the face of the ply with the same stuff? Or what about the mapei flexible additive, is this ok for the ply also? If it is ok to use both ill stick with the sbr since i have a tub of it already.
Now to the platerboarded bit. Is it ok to get some tubbed adhesive to stick the tiles on that bit or should i stick to using the same adhesive all around the bathroom. If i do this, do i need to prime the board?
The skimmed wall plan was to prime it with the plaster primer and tile straight onto it using the flexible adhesive. Is that ok to do, or should i use another adhesive to stick the tiles onto the walls? Like the mapei ultimate grab.
I would prefer to use the same adhesive all around but if i need some other stuff i suppose i will have to get it anyway.
Since the walls will be completed in a day or 2, will i have to wait until the skim is dried out totally before i lay down the ply. if so how long should i wait for the skim to dry out totally? (skimmed onto browning).
Im sure i had some more questions, so when i remember them ill ask around again.
Ta very much
