Help needed with deciding on Trays and Tanking Kit

I came across this forum and have founf many of the posts very useful. With more knowledge, more questions spring to mind always and I was hoping someone can help me and guide me.

We have just built a new double storey extension and I was looking to get the main bathroom and the ensuite on the 1st floor to have walkin/walk through showers.

I was interested in the linear drain and my builder has suggested the impey aqua deck linear tray as i wanted linear drains but these are quite expensive. Can someone help me and let me know if they are worth the extra price and if they are other cheaper linear drainage trays I need. I was looking for a strong tray hence I ahd seen marmox showerlay and other foam based trays but I think a stone tough tray would be better for me to use. Can I achieve a walkthrough shower without a tray or do i have to have a tray/former. Do i also need a tanking kit or can i use tilebacker boards and wp membrane?

any help would be much appreciated.

First point of call would be PHG wetrooms for a decent price and advice. After that the most important thing to be sure of is that the work is going to be carried out by experienced tilers/plumbers. I see soooo many wetrooms fail due tradesmen "having a go" at it.

Hi,

I spoke to the kind gentleman at PHG who really explained everything in quite good detail. He however doesnt do linear drains and hence I had the problem. Tuff2 and Marmox showerstone both dont have linear drains and hence I am asking. Otherwise I would have already placed an order with PHG as he was the most helpful out of all the people I called and spent really quality time explaining everything to me.

May i suggest you make some enquires in your local area to find and engage a reputable wetroom specialist. one who can show you his work, track record and references.

unless you have a lot of diy experience then wetrooms should be left to the pro's
