:welcome:Not a tiling expert but I have recently completed a travertine bathroom so can help with some of your queries.
I was advised to seal tiles once fitted then again after grouting, dont know about the bal product but I used LTP mattstone which came highly recommended on here.
As for the floor I used 18mm marine ply to replace the floorboards but added loads of extra noggins to make my floor solid, I then fitted a decoupling membrane.
I used moisture resistant plasterboard, unskimmed for the walls which was screwed to the stud wall and dot and dabbed everywhere else ,like you say the weight of travertine plus adhesive and grout takes it to the max weight limit but mine seems fine.
If your using the hardi backer boards not sure if you need to waterproof the wet areas, Im sure someone will be along shortly to advise. I used the homelux wall membrane around the shower, bath and sink.
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't be using the rapid set on the walls unless your experienced and speedy!
Your skimmed walls won't stand up to the weight issues.
moisture resistant plasterboard would do walls no prob unskimmed.
Seal before grouting, grout when sealer is well impregnated then reseal only after grout has throughly dried ie 24 hours or more.

I would forget about the PTB to be honest, Id lay the heat mats then use a leveling compound over the top and tile using normal adhesive. PTB isnt the easiest adhesive to use if your not very experienced and it is also rapid setting. Id agree with Hillhead, avoid rapid setting products, go for standard setting and take your time to make a good job of it.

If you can add extra noggins to the joists, do it. Then a sheet of 18mm BWP ply is fine.

As the guys have said above, fix the tiles (work clean and wash off any adhesive with a clean sponge and water), seal, leave to dry, grout, leave to dry and seal again. You must make sure that you wash ALL the grout off before sealing a second time.

Hope this helps a little bit
