I have to quote to fix tiles to a large hall. It's a concrete floor but the hall is made of two halves, both pretty old. One half (a later extension) has settled differently to the original and as a result, there is a small "San Andreas Fault" running the length of the hall.

Now I'm pretty sure that any movement will have settled after 40 years, but it has left a variation in height of between 5mm and 20mm along the length.

Has anyone faced similar???

I thought I could hire a concrete scabbler or diamond grinder (with dust extraction) and level this, then use something fancy like Schluter's Dilex expansion joint which allows vertical and horizontal movement.

Whatsyathoughts???

Thanks!

oops, Did'nt realise it was 10m long, How about a screed mixed with sbr and a slurry again mixed with sbr just before you lay the screed, I've done this quite a few times even on external work and go'es rock solid
