I know Mopei and Bal.. are probably the best products to use for tiling, however, they are very expensive. Can anyone tell me if Wickes wall and floor rapid set adhesive powder ok to use? They are a lot cheaper, also, the customer reviews in the site seem very impressive; are they genuine?

Also, I have already used them to tile my conservatory 2 months ago, so far, it looks real good and it was quite easy to use as well. Having said that I barely clean the floor with water.

I have already bought 2 big bags of adhesives and grout for my kitchen floor, I am really tempted to use them. However, unlike the conservatory, the kitchen needed to be mopped with water frequently, will this be a problem?

if tiles are fixed properly, with the right materials, no amount of mopping will cause the tiles to debond.

if you have used Wickes own brand adhesives and grouts, and you're happy with them, I see no reason why you should change the brand now, however I am only a DIYer like yourself. The professionals use what they are comfortable with, and me being a non-pro, I use what I feel comfortable with. I have used both BAL and Mapei in the past, my preference is BAL as I felt I could mix it better, but the top brands are top because they are good quality.

The tiling area is less than 9m2,
4/5 of the floor is laid with some very old red quarry tiles and the rest is screed which is laid from last Sept. The tile I am going to use is 13"X13" ceramic tiles.

Also, I have bought a big bucket of PVA from Wickes which I used to seal my conservatory floor before I tiled the floor. Can I do the same for my kitchen floor, even on the old quarry tile?

pva is no good do not use as a primer .you will need to give the quarry tiles a good clean , with sugar soap .are the quarry tiles solid , is the screed solid ,any cracks from movement

The quarry tiles are very solid, so is the screed, only that it got holes in it as I walked on it before it is set properly.
