Help!!

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some professional advice. I m about to tile a basement (quite a large one), the contractors have left tones of dust and chalky plaster on the floor which is impossible to get out. Im presuming primer is the way forward but it is extremely bad/thick..ANy advice appreciated, thanks Steve

Hi Steve and welcome.

It needs to come up. You cannot tile over that.

You need to sand the floor then vacuum up the dust well. If you prime dust the primer will not penetrate into the concrete/screed so wont stick

as above get a floor scraper and sweep and sand again then hoover the lot up

Cheers guys, yeh its a bit of a nightmare. Probably around 60 meters square. The concrete is sound, around 20 years old, its just all the ground in gyproc, its going to be a long week....

Being a basement I'am sure its been checked for damp prior to tiling.
If you've had a dry spell it may not be visible at first.

As above, worth getting it checked...not somethink you want to find out after it's been tiled..
