well they have been stamping concrete for years, during my plastering apprenticeship we learned to do all sorts of false work but it was all hand carved, so i suppose it's a natural progression top start to stamp patters and use dyes for colouring render coats, if you go on you -tube there is loads of it and some fantastic work there as well !........
