here ya go guys....

It's just laziness and lack of knowledge I dunno it's just crap I never use spacers on a floor
could not agree more have laid floors over hundreds sqm at a time and have never used a spacer on a floor ever just grid out string the lines and stay within the bays and small floors just two square lines and away you go

Why is it a issue leaving spacers in ..
I leave spacers in if I feel they will not protrude once grouted
use your own common sense

Spacers, when used should be removed for 4 reasons:-

1. They cause a weakness in the joint as the grout depth is less
2. They cause the grout to dry at a different rate so therefore can leave lighter patches
3. If the spacer is not sat down far enough into the joint they can stand proud of the grout
4. Most important, it costs you money having to replace on every job

Nothing wrong with using spacers, it's leaving them in and grouting over them that's the issue!!!

Agreed. On large open floors when laying large polished porcelain or real stone (all exact sizes) I have always used spacers and the finish is far superior and time fitting far quicker with spacers. We all know the jobs.....tiny grout joints, mirror finish, mm accurate across 15metres.

I have never left spacers in whether it's walls or floors
