Herringbone spacing concern!

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Before I complain to our tiler, does this spacing look right? We were definitely expecting a uniform grout line - grout will be bright white so I’m worried this will look a bit botched - when we’ve purposefully hired a tiler to make it look professional!

No, that doesn’t look right. You have chosen a tile that doesn’t have a flat straight edge so there will be a variation in the thickness of the grout lines but not as bad as in the photos.

Same as trigger has said above, there will be some variation with those tiles, but nothing that severe. I'd bring that to his attention straight away before he does any more, as everything beyond that point needs taking out and re-laying

It's essential to communicate your expectations with your tiler and clarify the desired spacing before any grouting is done. Sometimes, tile spacers can help maintain consistent spacing for a clean and polished look. Open communication with your tiler should help ensure the final result aligns with your vision of a professionally finished project.
