Well I'll get stright to the point..

Ive been seeking a wood supplier fitter for about a year, my specifications were for solid oak prime A grade oak with very few, very small knots(less than 2 less than ,5mm knots per board)
with long straight grain, no swirly grain and no discolouration. wide long planks.

I paid in full for the wood by credit card on order Unfortunately, the wood supplied is virtually all wrong, with lots of knots, including large ones in almost every board and very few with a straight grain.
I was wanting a contemporary look. the wood supplied is looking borderline rustic/country look.

It is so poor that we will have to start from scratch with another supplier.

So now the supplier is now refusing to replace it and the credit card company requires that we get an independent retailer/supplier to confirm that we are correct and the wood does not meet the specifications.
i originally asked for. So now I am seeking a flooring retailer to give a report on the wood specifications for the credit card company.

Obviously id pay a call out fee for the trouble.
Is there anyone out there that can help me...

I assume your invoice doesn't state the grade?

If it does state grade A (just grade A, not grade ABC) then there are guide lines on what is acceptable with regards to knots (i.e sizing, spacing and quantity per board) in which case it wouldn't meet the retailers contract of sale. So no independant report needed.

What you're asking for is very expensive with wide full starve prime oak, can I ask how much you paid per square meter.

I approved the colour specs on the van, and 3 days later opened about 10 of the bunches and saw the wood wasnt what i orded.
I immediatly called the company and they said they would call round and check, the company orded it from europe somewhere.
The company came to my home and said thats whats Prime Grade A is like, i said no way, please can you take it away and give me a full refund.
They admitted to some of the wood not being what i orded and took it away to take pics to show the company they had purchased it from.
I have emailed the company and they said it is the correct specs and will not take the wood or give a refund.. all this in the last 3 weeks..
The company were also to lay the wood.. In total i paid £18.000...

The company knew exactly my specs, all on email and i even emailed them photographs, the wood company came to my home on numerous
occaisions, we looked at samples from other companys. He knew I wanted a compleatly clean boards, this is boarder line rustic, its what i would call, country, I wanted a contempury look.
The boards have a really swirly grain/pattern with dark shadowing (smoky) in some planks.. in the wood and large knots, some of the knots are pinknots but about 10
on each of the boards, like the planks have got measels..
What was strange is when I called he company the guy said "who opened the wood" I did of course. .. They were due to lay it two weeks later. I think they were going to just lay the wood thinking I wouldnt notice or mind..
I didnt pay excess for the works up front. the money paid was for the wood only..

Tis sounds like breach of contract in tht they have failed to supply materials which are of the nature or quality required. If you have paid on credit card you are subject to section 72 protection under the consumer credit act and can actually claim your money back from the credit card company who will then recall the debt from the supplier. That assumes that you have not bought on eBay or some such and paid through PayPal.
