f they are porcelain with green star you may find your tiles come off clean with a damp patch on them def remove before they remove themselves

If it's a gypsum bonding coat, that will need removing too, even if you skim over it your porc tiles will be too heavy for skim.

Totally agree. Also never fix direct to bonding coat. Must be bonded and skimmed as the skim finish will be solid. bonding coat tends to be more brittle and soft.

Also as said earlier in this case the weight of tiles on bonding coat maybe to heavy for the substrate to handle
