Well this is more than I was expecting, it's great I'm looking forward to refreshing my knowledge & learning something new.

I've just decided to get a new business off the ground. After a few years of travelling I've settled in Abergavenny. My main trade is flooring, I've over 15 years experience in Carpets & Wood floors, but I've only 2 years experience with Stone, so I'm always looking for tips & help.

I've got a big travetine kitchen floor to price & it's been a while so what brought me here was checking out what tilers are able to charge these days.
I used to base my prices on £** m2 (does that sound realistic still?) & then look at the job individually, & add something on depending how awkward it was. In Wales prices have to go down I know but hopefully not too much. I'll be giving a couple of days away just to get myself back up to speed, not that I was ever that fast, I always prefer to just get it right however long it takes.

Unlike other forms of floor covering, with stone/tiles there is a lot of variables involved before you can arrive at a price per square metre for labour.
The substrate, tile preparation. de-coupling membrane just to name a few.
If you haven't got the experience and knowledge to price the job you may be out of your depth in the fixing of the stone to the standard that should be expected for a professional tile fixer.
Post some more information for some positive replies and look through the stone forum for technical help.
