Hi I'm new to this!!

Hello

Just to introduce myself my name is Richard Davies my company is RJD Tiling and Plastering I have been tiling sinve leaving the Navy at the age of 24 so that's nearly 7 years now. Trying really hard to get my business well established after doing mostly sub contract work but finding it very difficult so any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to work anywhere the work is and I start college in September to do further HNC study courses to better inprove my chances in the construction industry.

Forgot to mention I recently emailed 215 builders and shopfitters and sent letters to 260 plumbers in the area introducing myself got 1 response so far they wanted a huge job doing my outlay was £900 I thought great until they wanted to pay me in 3 months? Just could not afford that kind of outlay......... Is this the norm??

Thats a lot of emails! Im glad your making the effort to find work, some just expect it to come rolling in. Have you tried advertising anywhere? Some of the guys put cards in the local Post office with some success.

Not thought of trying that advertising is a bit of a catch 22 I'm happy to spend the money if I know it's going to work but looked at about 4 places and it came to about a grand they all say they will get you work. Tried rated people got loads of leads but only 2 out of about 10 were actually serious about getting work done and when your paying £10 a lead it's just money down the drain. Thanks for the advice on postoffice i'll do that!! :smilewinkgrin:

Your totally right I really don't think the people who ask for quotes are made totally aware that the person accepting the job has to pay for the lead!!!
