don't try and over reach, it's very tempting to try and impress clients with your knowledge, but if the experience isn't there yet it'll come back to bite yer! let the other trades do their jobs,ie plumbers do plumbing, sparkys do electrics etc etc. I certainly don't mmean to sound patronising, but i've been at it for 27 years and i'm still learning!! Good luck and i hope it works out for you mate! ps on private jobs always get your hoover out of van first, it creates a good impression and puts customers at ease!

cheers for that.
when tilers give there customers a price does it most of the time include materials such as adhesive and grout??? and what do most tilers use ie tubs of adhesive or the bags that you mix youself???
any paticular brands you would recommend??
Hi Brian,
chances are that customers have already chosen their tiles, you can soon cross tha VAT threshold if you start supplying tiles, yeah, there's the mark up to consider, personally I'd wait and see how business is going first. Insist on providing your own grout and adhesives and incorporate this into your metreage price. I, personally, find "ultra" to be adequate for most domestic work, eithher tubbed or powdered. Weigh up the size of the job as to wether you'll use a tub or powder, you can always put a lid on the tubbed stuff at the end of the day!! I use powder when i know that I can mix a full 20kg bag and use at least most of it.measuring the liquid for a part bag is easy enough, but I don't carry weighing scales to get the right proportion of powder!!
best of luck,
