Homelux wall/floor matting

Would anyone happen to know precisely what the difference is between the Homelux wall and the Homelux floor matting?

I have more wall matting than required and no floor matting.

I'm to have a marine plywood floor put down in a bathroom (not a wet room), though I know there can be differences in the quality of marine ply.

Would there be negative in putting some Homelux Wall matting put over the ply floor before tiling?

Your best bet it to ditch the ply and use something more suitable, assuming your using the ply over floorboards or chipboard.

No, the ply isn't going over floorboards, it's going directly onto the floor joists.

Personally I wouldn’t use that mat on the floor. Your best option is to overboard the floor with a cement board, or an insulation board, then tile.

Forget about the Homelux stuff and you can do away with the marine ply also Hardie backer boards do a structural 22mm board you can fix directly onto joists then just prime and tile with flexible tile adhesive! Our resident @3_fall hopefully can confirm this.

Yes Ian. I can confirm that

Hardie Floor structural board, really good product.
Tongue and groove cement board, 19 & 22mm thicknesses, finished job.
If there’s no danger of moisture ingress, then totally recommend it.

If your going to use a matting on a bathroom floor, then use Isomats waterproof decoupling membrane.
Two products in one and very versatile.
This can also be used on shower walls for tanking purposes.

As far as I am aware ( I have never used this) the Homelux matting for walls is for waterproofing and the Homelux matting for floor is a waterproof decoupling matting specifically for floors so you are asking if you should put the wall stuff onto the floor the answer is no.

That’s good information about the Hardie boards tho very handy to know and trust your opinion so will be using in future

May I ask what you mean by deflection in this context?
