Honed and filled Travertine tiles - where to buy good quality?

Hey

I'm just looking for some advice about where to buy good quality honed and filled travertine tiles? I'm not really sure if the ones you can get at Homebase/B&Q are good quality or not.

I originally bought 5 boxes of tiles from Homebase, but every single box contained at least 2 broken tiles/corners so I'm not sure where to go from here.

Oh, and here's my shopping list, can you let me know if I've missed anything

Mapei Mapeker Rapidset Flex White - is there an alternative that is just as good but maybe not as quick drying? Or do you have enough time to make changes?
Mapei Jasmine Grout
Lithofin Stain Stop

Anything I've missed? A friend is lending me his tile cutter so I'm okay with that, but not sure what else I need to pick up.

Thank you!

How about ctd ceramic tile distributors, ( country wide) they will have an in house range or grade a trav from classical flagstones, depends on your budget , get your stain stop in there to.

What about Perfect home and garden that's who I am planning on going to. What type of travertine you after?

I'd go to CTD. They have various grades from trade up to premium and beyond. Plus all the other gear you need. They'll point you in the direction of some fixers too if needed.

Don't go for their trade range as it's not very good, go for as expensive as you can afford if you go to CTD..
If it's for a wet area then you must Tank the area 1st.

Stef what's their price range on travertine?

I'm not sure but having fitted their trade range (cheapest) it's not very good.
I would opt for their more expensive range as it's thicker & not as much filling the backs of the tiles with adhesive.

Cheers Stef, I went to porcelanosa yesterday they had some tiles Nairobi Dune but wasn't sure what they are made from (anyone any ideas can't find them on the net). Sales assistant ignored me mustn't of looked like I could afford them, which put me off taking them my 25m2 order.

This is their trade range,

I suppose once fitted you can't tell the difference.
I advised a tanking system before the tiling as the water will pile through this type of tile but what do I know, I'm just a daft Tiler...

Lol Stef cheers for the pictures. I am just a consumer but I always listen to the pros rather pay once than many times. Plus my mate is in the trade and always advises 🙂

Mike this was for a house building firm I did work for, if it was my own job I wouldn't have fitted these without tanking the area out 1st.
