Just got a job tiling 15 kitchen splashbacks in a new block of flats,he wanted a price for each splashback. There is about 5sqm in each a window,15 sockets with the faces already on and a round extraction fan to cut round.the tiles are 450 by 330:whatchutalkingabout .The foreman said one tile will fit from worktop to the bottom of the perfectly units because they are 450 from the worktop.
I said I was quite busy and if he wanted me to start that week I could only work a few hours here and there so I'd prefer to be paid by the hour.He was a bit unsure but agreed,I said I'd want £18 an hour and he said fine.
I'm glad I did this as alot of the units are about 5mm low so have to cut tiles with a wet cutter which is time consuming and its awkward cutting round all the sockets.
So I'm now doing 10 hour days having all my scheduled breaks and the job is 5 mins from where I live so no time wasted travelling and no petrol costs.GET IN
The tiles look awesome by the way, thought they might look strange being so big but they actually look very trendy.
Do any of you ever do work on an hourly rate?
