How Did This Stay Together?

Here is the the thread to post your pics when you've torn out a job that seems like it should've failed long before but somehow stayed together.

We demo'ed two floors yesterday, both toilets had been leaking for some time....we're amazed that it wasn't worse than what we found once we got the tile out.

The tile on this floor was debonded and "floating" and somehow only had one or two grout lines that were cracked. There was almost no thinset under the tile. They only floated in about 3/4" of mud, and only half of the floor had lath in the mud. Where it had lath, the water had rusted the lath so far it had disintegrated.:yikes:

The current owners have been in the house for 20 years. The house is 32 years old. I have no idea how this stayed in place for that long.

Quality of work Rob:lol:

Bet that pen and inked:yikes:

Nice Rob - but you saw the floor I took out that had a full inch of water under the tiles in between the blobs! That was only 6 months old and failing fast. At least your one there held it together for a while huh!?

Today we took the rotten subfloor out. I used Channel locks and broke it out in pieces as easy as crunching crackers.:yikes:
