how do you tile yours

A job I've to do for a customer in the morning is tiling over some pinewood that's covering some pipes along part of the wall behind the toilet/sink. They had a leak in bathroom and plumber had to remove tiles that were already on. These tiles were bonded onto the timber with some Silicon and wondering should I do the same for easy removal for future use or just use a flexible adhesive like I usually do.

I would cover it with some plaster board or cement board first then tile it using flexible adhesive ........I hate tiling on wood. .

Yes, I always cover wood with either 9.5mm plaster board or 6mm cement board. A much better job that will last longer.

Can't really add plasterboard or CB because its to tight an area behind the toilet and sink, the tiles sit near flush as it is and any other will sit me out to much. Its either addy or Silicon onto the pine. This area won't get any movement, this is why I think last tiler used Silicon rather than Addy.

Yeah thats an option but the customer already knows the pine did the on before with no problems so I think if I start taking it apart, questions will be asked and they won't like it, esp the husband.

get him to do it then....but as a tiler you should be calling the shots.

You know how these private jobs are like thou, the customers think your just trying to get more work out of them. That's thanks to these cowboy tradesmen shows on BBC lol. Think I'll rip it out and batten and plasterboard it.

Tile it but if it fails, it's down to him as you advised on how it should be done.

If you can bring yourself to do it, there shouldn't be any reason why a few tiles with dabs of "sticks like S**t" clear adhesive wouldn't do the job in an area that is in effect unlikely to see any kind of foot-fall/touch or other pressure?
Not ideal, but this sounds like a "needs must" kinda scenario!
