If you can bring yourself to do it, there shouldn't be any reason why a few tiles with dabs of "sticks like S**t" clear adhesive wouldn't do the job in an area that is in effect unlikely to see any kind of foot-fall/touch or other pressure?
Not ideal, but this sounds like a "needs must" kinda scenario!
